A Road Map for Achievement for EVERY Student

Assessment
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments in Reading, Language and Math help determine each child’s instructional level and measure academic growth over time.  Scores help teachers know exactly where each child is achieving in the academic curriculum.  Through MAP, the New York State Testing Program for grades 3-12, and other specialized assessments, Fanwood has developed a culture of data-driven decision-making about instruction.  Evaluating each student’s academic needs---then designing and differentiating instruction accordingly---allows us to help EVERY student reach higher academic levels.

Functional Academic Curriculum for Exceptional Students/ F.A.C.E.S:  Fanwood teaches functional age-appropriate skills to students with significant learning needs through F.A.C.E.S.  This curriculum reflects state standards and is a framework for establishing high student expectations while teaching meaningful and functional skills necessary to develop independence.  Teachers “begin with the end in mind” and incorporate community-based instruction in natural environments.

New York Standards for Learning and Core Curriculum provide a framework for student achievement, leading towards the successful completion of requirements for a Regents Diploma, a Local High School Diploma, or an IEP Diploma.
