MISSION
New York School for the Deaf’s mission is to maximize each child’s potential through comprehensive educational programs with integrated state-of-the-art technology. We specialize in providing an accessible learning environment that inspires every child to think, to learn, to achieve, to care and to communicate.
We believe this success is maximized through a strong collaboration with families, school districts, agencies, the deaf community, the educational research community, the school community, philanthropic sources, and businesses. In doing so, New York School for the Deaf is an active and exemplary resource in the field of Deaf Education both nationally and internationally.
VISION
New York School for the Deaf is deeply committed to providing excellence in education through a rigorous, standards-based curriculum in a bilingual environment that includes direct, on-going access to communication and language in and out of the classroom. Our young people develop to their fullest and become self-reliant and successful individuals.
Our beautiful campus is a place where learning happens both inside and outside the classroom. Our students have multiple opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities and to develop a positive self-esteem and appropriate social skills. As past generations have built today's New York School for the Deaf, so does this generation recognize its responsibility to ensure future generations of graduates have every skill needed to be successful in an ever-changing world.
